Two moons passed and I waited for Claw’s return. Many of the wolves now spoke in quick whispers. I sat in the place I had two moons ago watching the direction they had gone. ‘How could he have left his family, his friends, and his own pack?’ I thought. My claws dug into the ground as a cold wind blew into camp. Winter had arrived and prey was even scarcer. I had noticed rumors and information about that disease going around ever since that day. I suddenly became interested in a conversation to my right. I took a quick glance seeing one of the elders Moss speaking quietly to Sparrow.
“The disease is said to make you go insane!” Moss said urgently. I saw her take a quick look around before continuing. “It terrible they even said there were new cases of some wolves surviving with strange powers.” Sparrow stared at the elder wide-eyed. I blinked trying to seem like I wasn’t listening.
“What else Moss? Tell me, I want to know more.” Sparrow said.
“Enough! Don’t speak of this to anyone else. Ice has told not to speak of it. I’ve told you too much already.” She said. The she-wolves then moved off in different directions. I rose to my and walked through the pack grounds with my head bowed. This place seemed dead and only two moons ago it had been full of life. I stopped and growled quietly.
Suddenly, frantic voices spoke out as wolves ran into the clearing. I recongnized a hunting group led by Hawk. Ice ran quickly out of his cave.
“There coming! Powers were too much. We couldn’t-” He said. I then realized he was bleeding and the three other wolves with him were too.
“Who is it Hawk! Who tell us!” Ice questioned. Hawk fell to the ground and the others collapsed also.
“It was... Tempest.” The wolf’s eyes closed after those words. Many rushed forward frightened and tried to help them.
“Everyone clam down! Breeze!” Ice yelled. The beta ran forward.
“Dusk, Sparrow, Raven, Boulder, Howler with me now.” He said. I joined the group as we ran of into the woods. I could smell blood in the distance and wolves. We broke into another clearing. A couple deer carcasses lay on the ground, but there were no more signs of life. We split up and checked things out. I soon saw movement out of the corner of my eye. I turned sharply as something jumped out and tackled me. The others were jumped too. I tried to bite my attacker, but they were strong. I finally got whoever it was off me. I turned rising to my feet to face them, but could only stare in shock. The one before me was my brother.
“Claw...” I gasped. The figure just snarled in reply and leapt for my throat. I remembered what Raven had taught me from experience. I dodged and as he flew passed I came down hard on his gray pelt. I heard him gasp from the air being knocked out of his lungs. I heard a painful scream come from the other side of the clearing. I turned and saw Raven. She was pinned down by Mouse. Pebble quickly joined in and they began to take turns attacking. It was like Raven was one of the elk and they were out hunting. I could see it in their eyes. They were ready to kill. Claw threw me off and I landed on the cold ground air knocked out me this time. He tried to pin me again, but I got him off. He hit an oak tree with a sickening thud and I ran to help Raven. I don’t know what happened next because of my emotions.
Rage built and I tackled Pebble before she could react. Mouse turned and was ready to help yet I went for her right after. She was rammed into the ground. I saw her eyes filled with fright as she fell unconscious. Pebble had gotten back up and jumped me from behind.  I bucked trying to throw her off. I then felt pain jolt through my neck. I yelped and rolled around on the ground. I felt her lungs crushed and I let her go. She retreated a few steps before turning back to face me. Her eyes filled with the desire to destroy.
“Pebble don’t be foolish stop now!” I challenged. Her desire seemed to disappear for a second, but then after that it was back. She laughed and her tail swiped back and forth behind her.
“Who’s pebble? My names Envy.” She jumped and I leaped too. We collided yet I managed to push her back. I then pinned her down soon after. She struggled in my grasp with her jaws snapping at my legs. I pushed her muzzle down with a paw.
“Envy?” I snarled. She made a hissing like noise. Then I saw water droplets begin to form around me. It reminded me of being in a frozen rain. Her eyes shown victory even though she was pinned fore the droplets moved forming into shard like shapes. I wondered how this was possible. Suddenly the shards came from all sides. It was like time slowed down. A numb feeling came from all sides of my body and I couldn’t move. My vision blurred and darkness seemed to creep from all sides. I felt my self thrown off. Then the image of Pebble or shall I say Envy filled my darkening sight. It was quickly replaced by Raven. She looked sad and in pain. I felt myself slipping.
“Raven...” A weak voice said. I then realized it was my own voice.
“Shush Howler. Sleep now. Everything will be okay.” She spoke softly. I saw more faces as my sight faded even more. Breeze then Dusk followed by the others. I whimpered weakly.
“Sleep now Howler. I’ll be right here with you.” Raven said gently. My eyes finally closed and I was enveloped in darkness. At first I struggled, but then the numbness and the endless black got to me. I relaxed remembering that gentle voice and the faces of friends.
